Disconnecting Chargers and Outlets When Not In Use
This may sound obvious or redundant, but you can save a bunch of dollars by simply turning off the appliances and chargers that you aren't actively using.
For instance, you may have a DVR, a cell phone charger, or a laptop computer charger that you leave plugged in to the a/c even when you aren't actually charging or using the device. Leaving a charger plugged in even when you are not actively charging something will waste electricity and cost you money.
You can simply unplug the chargers and devices that you aren't using when you go to bed. One trick is if you have multiple related devices, such as a TV, a VCR, a game system, etc. you can put them all on a single power strip and just turn off that power strip when you retire for the night. This will save you quite a bit!
Enjoy,
Joseph
This is a good post. I've been hearing a lot about this on Planet Green and other green-oriented TV shows. It makes sense, those devices have to be eating up electricity even when they're not being used. Thanks.
